My partner and I stayed at this hotel a few months ago, and our first experience was excellent. Both the room and the service were impeccable, which is exactly why we decided to stay here again. Unfortunately, our second visit was far from the experience we had the first time. To begin with, it took longer than expected for our room to be ready. We were told that, to make up for the delay, we had been given a complimentary room upgrade—which, frankly, we neither requested nor needed. Once we finally got to the room, we settled in completely. We unpacked our luggage, put our clothes away in the drawers, and arranged all of our toiletries and personal items in the bathroom. Then, the following day, we were “kindly” informed that we would have to vacate the room because it had been assigned to another guest and that we needed to move to a different room. We explained that we would much rather stay in the room we were already in, especially since we had completely unpacked, and asked if they could simply leave us there to avoid the inconvenience of packing and unpacking everything all over again. Our request was denied. This was extremely frustrating. The so-called “upgrade” was something we never asked for in the first place, yet we were the ones inconvenienced by the hotel’s decision. We ultimately had no choice but to pack everything up, move rooms, and unpack all over again. I called the concierge to express my frustration and ask for assistance, but unfortunately, nothing was resolved. I felt that my concerns were simply brushed aside. Ultimately, what should have been another enjoyable stay turned into a disappointing experience due to a clear lack of coordination, communication, and professionalism on the hotel’s part. It is especially unfortunate because we chose to return specifically because of how impressed we were with our first stay. After this experience, however, we will not be staying here again, and I cannot recommend this hotel.

The hotel and staff was really nice! I only had two issues. My balcony door would not close on room 23. I tried multiple times to get it to shut properly. I didnt bother to contact the front desk due to us already having our luggage unpacked. It was my wife's birthday and I didn't want to disturb her by having someone enter the room trying to assess the issue. If I was on the first floor it would have been a bigger issue due to security and safety issues. The only other issue that I had was valet didn't have our vehicle upfront for departure. They issued me a receipt. The receipt gave me instructions that I followed to have our car available once we departed. Our car wasn't up front as we expected and we had to wait at least 10 minutes. We stayed on a week day and there was virtually no traffic. Once I got to the valet and let them know I followed the instructions on the tag that was issued it seems if they didn't understand my concern. I should have parked on the street and not valeted.

A 5 Star rating for this hotel is generous. Shower heads were clogged, turndown service was provided 1 night out of 4, even after specifically requesting it. Upon returning to our room one afternoon, we found the door open. Doors that provided security to the tower rooms were frequently left open. Front desk staff was not helpful. Great waitstaff and valet service. Other than that, the hotel was disappointing.

We rented a bungalow for 4 days and had a wonderful experience from the moment we parked in the driveway. Staff were friendly and welcoming as well as helpful with tending to all of our needs. I highly recommend the bungalows if you’re looking for a quiet, private place to stay

We had a fantastic stay. The room (in the tower) was quiet, large, and peaceful. The staff was top-notch, we appreciated their warm welcome to us but especially to our little 2.5 year old boy. We would definitely stay there again. The pillows were so fluffy, and if that's my only complaint that is pretty great!

We stayed in the Monet suite to get ready and our wedding night and it was absolutely perfect. The room was spacious and comfortable, and service was impeccable. When we arrived, I realized that the only full length mirror was in the closet and I really wanted to be able to easily see myself in my dress. Within minutes, staff was bringing in a 7ft leaning mirror that they pulled from God knows where and placing it in the room for me! I was so impressed! As a photographer myself, having a room that would photograph beautifully to get ready in was a priority. The Monet suite has amazing light from many angles and is so roomy that even with 9 people at one point, it didn't get cramped. I adore the photos we captured in this room!

Off the chart lovely experience, location, and staff. I had no idea this part of Houston was so walkable and beautiful. We had the warmest greeting when we arrived at the hotel. The valet, front desk, and other team members were generous with their smiles and greetings toward our children. The bungalow was a wonderful solution to traveling with two children who wake at different times. Overall the hotel felt luxurious and well appointed. The art, color palette, and even the scent of the hotel offered a wonderful escape from the day to day. My singular recommendation is for the hotel to switch to electric leaf blowers and away from gas powered tools. The noise and smell of gas powered leaf blowers interrupts the otherwise relaxing environment.

We celebrated my birthday at Hotel Colombe d’Or, and it was a truly wonderful experience. The team did a beautiful job helping to organize everything, suggesting the best solutions for the event we had wanted to create. The atmosphere was elegant yet relaxed, and the setting created the perfect backdrop for a special gathering with friends. The staff was attentive, thoughtful, and genuinely kind, which made the evening feel both seamless and personal. Food and drinks were amazing. I’m very grateful for how well everything was handled — it was a memorable celebration, and we felt very well taken care of. Thank you to the entire team and we definitely will be back.

Words cannot describe how beautiful, elegant, chic, and exclusive this venue truly is for the Houston area! I naturally love microweddings so when I had the wonderful opportunity to photograph Joe & Bianca's wedding day, it was a dream come true! From the gorgeous dining room, to the outdoor space for the ceremony, and of course the bar, it just cannot get better than this downtown Houston hotel! The cleanliness and care that has put into this hotel and the management to have intimate weddings can be seen from a mile away; they really have put so much effort into creating a welcoming space overall and it shows! I enjoyed photographing here recently for B & J's wedding and cannot wait to be back here in the near future!! 🤍💒

The best grilled cheese and lobster roll ever! And it’s such a stunning location filled with great art and interesting sculptures. The bar is so cozy and delightful. LOVE!
