Drove in for a few days of Museums, food and doctors appointments. Drove past KOI, turned around and went in and BOOM! This place is incredible. I have eaten sushi in 15 different cities and hands down Koi ranks at the top. Atmosphere and food are top notch. Service was great as well. I will return!!!!

I really wanted to like this place. However, while the food was above average, the service was absolutely horrible. Moreover, there were rowdy, drunk diners making a lot of noise, and that really made it difficult to communicate. There are so many very good sushi restaurants in Houston right now, including several in the Montrose area. For a restaurant to really be competitive, it has to deliver on the service and keep the food at an exceptional level.

Absolutely amazing! From the time we walked into the restaurant, our server Brianna was warm and welcoming. The chefs welcomed us into the restaurant as well. The food was phenomenal. We had the miso soup, shrimp tempura rolls, toro nigiri roll, 4 oz waygu beef, that were all impeccable. If you are looking for sushi in Houston, Koi is the place to go. The food and the service is excellent. I highly recommend it.

Well the don’t have a bartender during the day on Sundays, so I couldn’t try a cocktail. The yuzu beer was good, but is 10$. The Wagyu hand roll was the best or maybe the unagi avocado (broiled eel). I had ordered the spicy Wagyu hand roll and got the garlic one. It’s fine, I ate it. The Wagyu roll and crispy rice thing, that Wagyu was weak. It wasn’t tender and buttery like normal. It was chewy. None of the flavors were wow. I’m disappointed.

We booked a last-minute reservation here and I’m so glad we did! The food was creative and delicious - definitely beyond a typical sushi spot. We had several cocktails and all were great. We will definitely return soon!

Superb Japanese cuisine - best I’ve had in a long time. Loved the wagyu and uni selections. I regret that I have but one stomach to give to this great chef at Koi

Koi is above average restaurant in Houston compared to other sushi restaurants. The food is good and reasonable for the price that you pay. The fish is fresh. Of course I would expect more in the flavors. I came with a friend. We shared the Taramiso Apple and Aburi Salmon Roll. Each of us got a Nigiri Platter and Spicy Bluefin Tuna Handroll. I was most impressed by the Taramiso Apple, the marinated miso black cod was so soft and delicious. I wad quite disappointed because the server told me that we’re going to get some from the list of toyosu special (fish imported from Japanese - also more expensive). However, the only I got from that list is Hirame. Additionally, the food came out pretty slow, I waited about 20+ minutes for each dish, even though the restaurant was not that busy. Our server - Ashley was really sweet, friendly, dedicated and passionate. I love the interior inside of the restaurant, super iconic and classic of Japanese vibes. They offered complimentary valet parking, free mochi ice cream or Espresso Martini when you leave them a review. My visit was on Friday, November 29, 2024.

The restaurant was pretty empty, which was so surprising! This is definitely a hidden gem! The food and the drinks were amazing 👏 The enoki butter was surprisingly a soup dish but it was packed with so much flavor. All of the fish cuts were generous and extremely fresh. The cherry on top is the cost for the quality. I will definitely be returning.

This is such a great experience. The sushi chefs are amazing and the restaurant has a great neighborhood feel. Everything is so fresh and they have an amazing happy hour menu!

Excellent. Both my boyfriend and I are huge Uchi fanatics and have had trouble finding a sushi spot that tops it. We made our way over to Koi to see what it was about. Presentation was phenomenal and food was delicious. This place definitely exceeded our expectations. We will be back. Sit with Daniel at the sushi bar. Our drinks were excellent and he made excellent suggestions. Overall, so happy we went here. Give it a shot! You won’t be disappointed.
