We had a resort pass for the pool. It's a decent area. Nice ambiance. It rained for 1 hour at 2pm. They closed the pool bar and service. It became sunny one hour later at 3pm and the pool filled up again with people. They did not reopen bar or service at the pool despite a call to do so. Instead they expect you to pay $5 and 25% extra charge for "room service" to get food or a drink. No thanks. Disappointed. Not recommended for resort pass.

I've previously had fairly good experiences at ZaZa (ZaSpa is amazing!), so when I needed to book a room for a client for a last-minute stay, it was top of mind. Because I was booking the room for someone other than myself, I specifically called while making the reservation online to ask what was necessary to ensure my client could check in without me present. I was told by the reservations agent that I simply needed to add her name to the reservation. I did exactly that and completed the booking online while still on the phone with the agent. Fast forward to my client's arrival: she was held at the front desk and not permitted to check in because I was not there with her. I then received a call telling me that I needed to come to the hotel in person to present the card used to make the reservation. I asked to be escalated to a manager and ultimately spoke with two. Their explanation was that the reservations agent did not know I intended to pay with the card I used to make the reservation. That explanation makes very little sense to me. I called specifically because I was making a reservation for someone else and wanted to know exactly what was required. If additional authorization or an in-person card presentation was necessary, that should have been communicated during that conversation. Instead, my client was left standing at the front desk, unable to check in and likely wondering why a room that had been booked for her was suddenly inaccessible. I can only imagine how uncomfortable and embarrassing that must have been for her when she was simply ready to get to her room and rest. It was equally embarrassing for me as the person who arranged the accommodations. In the end, despite my having taken the extra step to call ahead and follow the instructions provided by ZaZa's own reservations staff, the managers required me to leave my home and drive to the hotel to physically present my card before they would allow my client to check in!!! Policies are policies, and I have no issue complying with them. However, I was proactive enough to call and ask what those policies require, followed the instructions I was given, yet was still inconvenienced because the information provided was incomplete or incorrect is not just. For a hotel of this caliber, I expected much better communication, problem-solving, and customer service. Unfortunately, what should have been a simple gesture for a client became an unnecessarily stressful and embarrassing experience for both of us, and I will never use ZaZa for client accommodations in the future.

One of my best friends held her 60th birthday party here and it was absolutely fabulous. The staff were very attentive. The room we were in was beautiful and spacious. The food was exceptional, ESPECIALLY the salad dressing used for the salad. The atmosphere was so lively that I looked up to see one of the staff swaying from side to side while the violinist played. The valet staff was efficient and professional as well.

Updated from 3 to 4 stars; within an hour after posting the review they reached out directly for more feedback. Great location by the parks, and the rooms and room service were great. The valet (managers maybe) were awful and rude, but the runners were nice. The concierge desk was confused and also rude both in person and over the phone. The restaurant/bar situation was odd; it is far too loud to have a nice dinner (indoors) with the loud bar right next to you. Better to walk down the street to Grangers. Overall, likely wont be back. Even with the location, the service wasn’t worth the pain.

I’ve heard so much about the famous Hotel Zaza, so I finally decided to do a brunch date at the restaurant. Monarch is absolutely beautiful. The aesthetic, layout, and atmosphere is stunning!!! Valet was extremely nice, and the food was to die for. I ordered the lamb chops. I was a little taken back by the restaurant service. It took a minute for the host to arrive at the host stand, and our server Cory was super kind but seemed very distracted. Maybe they were short handed that day? He didn’t visit our table too many times, and quickly asked us if we would like to charge our room or card mid way through our meal. We felt rushed. Other than that, everything was outstanding. I definitely would recommend the food to anyone!

Truly a unique stay in all of Houston! The Zaza is close to everything - Rice, the Medical Center, the Museum District, Hermann Park, midtown, and downtown. It has upscale appointments, an excellent bar/restaurant for business meetings, and well-equipped events spaces. What really stands out about the Zaza, though, is it's style! Every room is uniquely decorated with pictures of celebrities from film and stage. Staying here always feels like stepping into the golden age of Hollywood - and each stay in each room is unique. On top of it all, their staff goes above and beyond to make you feel like the most important guest in the world. 5/5 would recommend!
