I came to Houston from Austin for a concert and decided to stay an extra day. A friend had highly recommended this coffee shop, so I decided to stop by and support a local business. Unfortunately, I left incredibly disappointed!!! While sitting inside, I saw a man who appeared to be experiencing homelessness politely ask a customer outside if they would buy him something to eat because he was hungry. The customer said no, and the man walked away. I didn’t witness any harassment or confrontation. I decided to offer to buy him something myself. He said yes, so I went inside and ordered him a croissant and water. The employee at the register initially told me they weren’t supposed to sell food if it was being purchased for someone experiencing homelessness. After I explained that I had already offered, she agreed to process the purchase “this time.” After I gave him the food, the owner Frédérick Fortin approached me. He told me that this man had been coming around for several days and was “harassing customers” by asking them for food. He explained that it was frustrating from a business perspective because customers come and go and when they do this he is left to deal with the situation!!!! I told him I understood his concern, but what I personally witnessed was someone politely asking one person for food, being told no, and walking away. I made my own choice to help him. What I found most upsetting was being made to feel that I had done something wrong by purchasing something with my own money and choosing to give it to someone else. Once I purchase something, I should be able to decide what I do with it! I also explained that I had come to this shop because it was highly recommended to me. When I expressed my disappointment, the owner’s response was essentially that if I didn’t like his business, I didn’t have to be there. So I left!!! I believe businesses can have boundaries while still treating people with empathy, respect, and kindness. Those are values I personally choose to support, and a business that doesn’t reflect them is a business I’m not interested in supporting! Deff not coming back!!!

The pastries are perfectly balanced, in a 100% French style; the bakery is top-notch. The desserts change weekly, and the display case is beautiful and inviting.

Came here on a recommendation from someone who found it on maps for me to go on a little adventure! The place is clean and beautiful, and everything looks fresh and delicious! I got an iced coffee, a cute little tiny jar of raspberry preserves that I’m super excited to try!! And they even have homemade dog biscuits, so obviously I got one for each dog!

the coffee flavor is very nice and the syrups come through very well. the staff are extremely nice and the pastries are extremely good. especially the tart, canelé, and lemon cake which were superb

This is one of my favorite cafes in downtown Houston. The vibe is incredible,the food is authentic, and the coffee is rich. This spot is definitely worth checking out if you’re into French cafes.

Gorgeous downtown cafe with great prices and baked goods! I loved the lemon tart and the croissant. I would highly recommend coming and sitting down with some coffee to enjoy the lovely atmosphere. Customer service is fast and very helpful in helping me decide what I was going to get. The coffee is just okay, not up to par, but it was not bad.
