Koi is above average restaurant in Houston compared to other sushi restaurants. The food is good and reasonable for the price that you pay. The fish is fresh. Of course I would expect more in the flavors. I came with a friend. We shared the Taramiso Apple and Aburi Salmon Roll. Each of us got a Nigiri Platter and Spicy Bluefin Tuna Handroll. I was most impressed by the Taramiso Apple, the marinated miso black cod was so soft and delicious. I wad quite disappointed because the server told me that we’re going to get some from the list of toyosu special (fish imported from Japanese - also more expensive). However, the only I got from that list is Hirame. Additionally, the food came out pretty slow, I waited about 20+ minutes for each dish, even though the restaurant was not that busy.
Our server - Ashley was really sweet, friendly, dedicated and passionate.
I love the interior inside of the restaurant, super iconic and classic of Japanese vibes.
They offered complimentary valet parking, free mochi ice cream or Espresso Martini when you leave them a review.
