- Katami… excellent food, clean and modern spaces, impecable attention… a vast amount of drinks, sake, wine and cocktails… !!! Good modern, low volume, music. Only valet parking, takes time to find a place to park around.

Katami is an exceptional dining experience. The quality and freshness of the fish really stand out , the nigiri, sushi, and sashimi were beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious. The menu is creative and offers some interesting combinations beyond the usual Japanese selections. The service was amazing: attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely helpful with recommendations and accommodating preferences. The atmosphere is stylish and lively, making it a great place for a special dinner or simply when you’re craving high-quality Japanese food. Definitely a place I would return to!

Definitely worth trying! We came here for a birthday dinner and had an amazing time. We ate lots of nigiri and tried several of their crudos, and everything was excellent. The fish is definitely high quality and incredibly fresh, and the dessert was also unique and tasty. If you’re looking for a great sushi spot, I highly recommend stopping by. Just make sure to book in advance since they get packed!

Sushi is fresh and delicious. It worth the price. Service can improve a little bit. I’m a Japanese restaurant service myself. I tip 22% this time but actually it only worth 18%. But will back next time see if other services is better. Great dinner anyway. Will definitely recommend especially the $99 sushi set is totally awesome!

Came in without a reservation. Sat at the bar. Absolutely fantastic atmosphere. Immaculate service. And food is top notch. One of , if not the, best sushi spots in town.

Our dinner was wonderful and the service was incredibly attentive, but the yolks in the chawanmushi were off, and the uni it was topped with we think may have given my husband food poisoning (only he ate it, and only he got sick). Before we left the restaurant I heard a woman throwing up profusely (and having it out the other end) in the restroom so he may not have been the only one. While I have been before and enjoy the food here immensely, and previously would have rated this a 5/5, this is unacceptable for a high end sushi restaurant. At $10 for an uni add on, quality should be guaranteed. Edit: Management did follow up with me so that they could isolate whatever it was that made my husband sick and apologized profusely. Hopefully it was a one-off.

Service was superb. Knowledgeable staff and experience was outstanding. The server was friendly, attentive, and clearly experienced. The atmosphere was classy and peaceful. The whole dining experience was pleasant. The food even exceeded my expectations. There were so many options and everything I had was delicious. I tried a bunch of items on the menu. One of my favorite things that I tried was the nigiri and the sashimi bluefin flight. They arranged the bluefin tuna in the order of lean to fatty. The fish tasted so fresh and had a smooth texture that was buttery. It just melted in my mouth. My other favorite was the hotate crudo. It had a silky jiggly texture to it. I thought the foie gras with pbj on milk bread was unique. The flavors paired well with the foie gras and had a tender bite to it. The drinks here were also fantastic.

My husband and I came to celebrate our wedding anniversary last night and had the absolute pleasure of having the best service and food we have had ANYWHERE! Our service was top notch, thanks to Phi. He was INCREDIBLY attentive, knew everything about everything on the menu, made incredible recommendations and took care of us so well. He even brought out a special anniversary dessert for us. As incredibly picky sushi eaters, everything here was a 10/10. We enjoyed every single minute at Katami. I cant say enough good things about this place and Phi made our experience that much better! We live kind of far, so it takes alot for us to come back to a place in the city. However, we will absolutely be back specifically to dine with Phi as our server. Amazing night!!! Crazy good! Love the freshness of the fish. We tried multiple Nigiris, sushi, and Japanese rice. It was delicious. Melts in your mouth. The price wasn't bad for the quality of the fish. The waiter did an excellent job explaining everything on the menu. He was very nice! I am definitely coming back for more. Love the location of the place.

I had an excellent first time experience at Katami. I ordered the Toro tartare, chirashi, and the apple caramel bread pudding. The toro tartare is their most highly recommended appetizer and goes down like butter. The fish quality on the chirashi was superb. The rice was also perfectly cooked and the toppings were thoughtful and enjoyable. I love any place that chooses to use real wasabi, as it’s always such a treat. The bread pudding was incredibly delicious. You must save room for dessert. It was a 10/10. My waitress was Apple and she was amazing. She has amazing recommendations and knowledge of the menu. Ben, the manager, was also very kind and knowledgeable. This was an incredible culinary experience and I will definitely return.

Amazing place. Went here for my birthday with some friends. Everything was so fresh and all the staff were friendly and helpful. Get the tuna tartar! Highly recommend trying this place out!

Phenomenal. Felt like Uchi on steroids. Apps, nigiri, hot dishes, desserts- all incredible. Super thick list of fine sakes, wines, spirits, cocktails. Service was perfect. There’s a good reason this place is frequently making prominent top 5 / 10 lists in Houston, they are simply doing everything right.

Great sushi spot in the Montrose area by the team from Kata Robata. Beautiful buildout and decor. We had the omakase menu. You are meant to reserve this in advance but we were able to snag a few remaining spots for the sushi omakase menu. Dishes kept coming out forever finishing with two desserts. So much great stuff. Highly recommend for a special dining experience.

The clam miso soup set the tone with its rich, savory broth enhanced by the freshness of the clams. The toro tartare, served with buttered buns and fresh wasabi, was exceptional, with its soft, melt-in-your-mouth texture. Equally impressive was the goma tofu, elevated by its buttery sesame essence. The tomato ramen and somen salad struck a perfect balance of sour and citrusy notes that beautifully complemented the soy sauce, with thin noodles cooked just right. The seared otoro nigiri stood out as a highlight—its buttery, torched flavor took the already exquisite otoro to another level. The wagyu with foie gras was another masterpiece, with the sweet sauce tying the two elements together seamlessly. Our favorite place for upscale sushi/Japanese food in Houston! food is amazing and their atmosphere makes you feel like you are in New York at a fine dining establishment. So far every dish that we've tried has been amazing, we cannot wait to come back and try all the other things on the menu. kudos for having an extensive menu & executing each dish. Perfection. & just wanted to give a shout out to Ben for always taking such good care of us whenever we visit. Thanks for making our experience that much better!!
