UPDATE 8/30/26: BEST breakfast in town. Wife tried Breakfast Club for first time today. Incredible. Many thanks to Brandon, Shimmy, Cameron, Carlos and the outstanding, unsung heroes in the kitchen preparing food fit for royalty. UPDATE 8/2/26 Great all the time. Fantastic breakfast/brunch menu on Sundays. Brandon really knows how to bring it all together with an incredible team. Excellence prevails. No weak links. One of THE BEST restaurants in Houston. UPDATE 7/26/26: 1. Best service in town. 2. Best breakfasts in town (Sunday brunch). 3. Best coffee in town. Appreciate Shimmy, Judd and everyone there making it happen. Pure excellence. UPDATE: 7/5/26: Fantastic people. Fantastic food. Sunday brunch wonderful. One of the best traditional Eggs Benedicts. Hollandaise is rich so recommend ordering on the side so it can be spooned to taste. Chiliquiles outstanding. Bring an appetite because the portions are gargantuan. Best coffee in town. Jonathan's The Rub uniquely executes a genuine and perfect balance between humility and swagger. The food is high quality, creatively fresh comfort food that is elevated without being snooty. The opposite of boring. Look forward to exploring their eclectic, real-deal menu.

I made this reservation and mentioned that it was our wedding anniversary. When we arrived, nobody acknowledged our celebration. We sat at a small table by the window, while there were other larger tables for four. I understand those are for bigger groups, but when we asked to sit at one of those because it wasn't occupied and there weren't many people at the time, the hostess told us no, those are reserved. I told her I also had a reservation. Still, I thought maybe it's for bigger groups. Less than 10 minutes later, they sat a couple at one of those tables. I was very disappointed. The waiter was attentive but didn't acknowledge our anniversary either. He didn't share the day's specials with us, although we could hear him mentioning them to other tables. That was probably the worst part about this restaurant-the ambiance was so loud, we could hear all the conversations from the other two tables nearby. As for the food, it was overall good. We had the gumbo, bisque, and scallops as appetizers. Then my husband got the ribeye and got the sea bass. Finally we ordered the chocolate cake and was so dry. Overall not great.

We were there with our friends four days ago and the meal itself was excellent as usual. However, the service we received from our waiter was highly disappointing. From the moment we sat down, we felt incredibly rushed. He even cleared my friend's plate before she finished with her appetizer. Our entrees came almost immediately after. As soon as we finished our main courses, the waiter handed us the bill without even offering the dessert menu. At first, we assumed the staff was trying to close up since it was near 9pm. However, as we walked out, we noticed at least four other tables still dining on the other side of the restaurant. We felt unwelcome and hurried out the door, which really ruined what was supposed to be a relaxing night out with friends. Read less

We were seated in the winter wonderland tent which was festive for the holidays. The waiter was wonderful and made great suggestions for appetizers ( sweet chili shrimp and crab cakes) entree ( blackened redfish over grits and roasted chicken over mashed potatoes that was moist and seasoned to the bone). Princess personally decorated our desert plate and recommend the Nutella cheesecake that was deelicious😋. Can’t wait to return and try more dishes.

Our server wasn’t very enthusiastic and seemed a little gloomy, that kind of put our mood off. The weather was beautiful that day so our whole office sat outside to enjoy it! Beautiful atmosphere, their lunch menu has decent options with good prices and it’s in a nice area. My lobster bisque had two or three small lobster chunks in which I was disappointed with… The shrimp appetizer dish was very good and flavorful. Lastly my salmon dish wasn’t anything special and it wasn’t bad either - I had asked for my salmon to be cooked medium and it came out more done. My biggest complaint though is parking - it’s a pain in the ass to find a parking spot and you almost always have to valet your car if you don’t want to waste your time finding parking. I’d come back if it was at someone else’s expense or if it’s your first time.

Went here for a birthday party and had a great time. The food was lightly seasoned but well portioned to have an even combination of flavor and texture. The food won't blow you away but it was still very good. Staff was friendly and professional. The setting was intimate yet open. I hope to return at some point.

Aug 2024 - an upscale cozy place in the Memorial area serving fantastic food for all palettes of even the pickiest esters. The food is high quality and prepared with presentation in mind. It tasted fantastic. The menu has a wide variety of selections with a Saturday & Sunday brunch options. Mimosas were the drink of the day served in a unique way with added juice DIY fashion. Our waiter was great. His service was spot on all throughout the meal. The atmosphere of this place is cozy and quaint. I really liked the cookbooks all over the restaurant. There's a large outdoor area for your outdoor enjoyment. So, for a great meal with great service when out in the Memorial area, stop by Jonathan's The Rub.
