I left this restaurant feeling misled by the way the business lunch is priced. The advertised business lunch is $28, but many of the main dishes come with significant upcharges. For example, the fish of the day was +$16, beef was +$20, and even dessert was an additional +$6. I ordered: soup, catch of the day (red fish) and a cup of tea. My total came to $52 before tip. After looking at the regular menu, I noticed that the soup is $14 and comparable fish dishes are around $20–22. That means I effectively paid the $28 “business lunch” price almost entirely for the soup, while also paying nearly full menu price for the fish. The business lunch is presented as a value, but the extensive surcharges make it anything but. By the time you choose one of the more appealing entrées and add a drink, you’re paying close to — or even more than — ordering from the regular menu. Unfortunately, what sounded like a reasonably priced business lunch ended up being an unexpectedly expensive meal, and I left feeling disappointed.

The atmosphere was very nice, and the meat and fish entrées my husband ordered were both delicious. However, I found some grit in the vegetable entrée I ordered, which was disappointing.

This was my first time at Etoile Cuisine and Bar, and I was thoroughly impressed! The staff was incredibly professional and polite, making me feel welcome from the moment I stepped in. I decided to try their brunch menu, and it was an absolute delight. The dishes were not only exceptionally tasty but also beautifully presented, showcasing the chef's attention to detail. The ambiance of the restaurant was truly delightful, creating a perfect setting for a leisurely brunch. I highly recommend Etoile Cuisine and Bar for brunch. The combination of delicious food, impeccable service, and a lovely atmosphere made it a truly memorable experience. I can't wait to return to try their lunch and dinner offerings.

5 Stars no less! As a French native, I’ve been disappointed by many so-called “French” restaurants in the US—high prices, mediocre food, and small portions seem to be the norm. But Étoile Cuisine and Bar in Houston is a refreshing exception! Owned by a true Frenchman, this restaurant delivers authentic, high-quality French cuisine at a reasonable price. The flavors are spot on, and the portions are just right—not too much, not too little. It’s clear that every dish is crafted with care and attention to detail. Finally, a French restaurant that offers an authentic experience without just using the French label as an excuse for inflated prices. Totally worth it—I’ll definitely be returning!

This was our second or third time dining here. The restaurant is narrow but deep with a main room, a separate smaller area, and a wine room. The food is French, the main server/Manager is French and it all adds up to a delightful experience. We ate Escargot, short ribs of beef, sole, and Apple Tart and cheese plate desserts. The only negative is the noise level. It gets loud. 5.5/5 Syds (.5 deduction for noise) one of the best food options in Houston. #howmanysyds

Etoile et Bar in Uptown Park is easily my top choice for French dining in Houston. For the past 10 years, I’ve made it a point to visit during Houston Restaurant Months, and they’ve never let me down. The food is consistently fresh, creatively displayed, and comes in generous portions. Their Houston Restaurant Month menu stands out for its consistency and value, particularly the incredible deal where you can add a fantastic dessert for just four dollars during lunch—a steal that’s hard to find elsewhere in Houston. One of the highlights for me is their beef tartare, which I order regularly. Occasionally, the fish can be slightly dry, but it’s a minor issue in the grand scheme of their offerings. Desserts are a must-have, whether during Restaurant Months or any other time. The regular menu is equally impressive, with the duck being a standout. The wine list and appetizers offer so many amazing options that it’s hard to choose just one to mention. Whether you’re there for lunch or dinner, Etoile et Bar consistently delivers fresh, flavorful food in great portions, catering to all ages. It’s a place I highly recommend, and knowing that they also donate to the Houston Food Bank makes the experience even more rewarding.

Great french restaurant. White cloth and nice french inspired interior design. Staff is very attentive - no wait time for any request. Food was overall good. I gotta say that it doesn’t compare to authentic local food in Paris - mainly because the ingredients in europe taste different. Don’t expect fully authentic taste and flavors. Bisque lobster was my favorite. Risotto with shrimp, duck confit and french onion soup all tasted good. Can recommend for a lunch / dinner date.
