This park is a true hidden gem of Houston. Please note that the map provided on the official website is NOT accurate. I’ve attached a photo of a map provided Greater Houston Off Road Biking Association, which was very accurate and informative.
We walked 6 miles along the bike trails. We saw splendid views of the water ways, abundant water foul and wildlife. Wildflowers were in full bloom in April and made the trip extra special.
Cyclists were very friendly and it was easy to navigate around them. The trials are sandy with some elevation, but easy walking. The paved path which runs in the middle of the park is very level and well maintained. It would be say to do with children 5 and up. However, please be aware that there are few resources along the trial. Almost no bathrooms except at the parking area and at the skate park, both port-a-potties. Bring plenty of water, bug spray, and sun screen. Also, there are several road ways and bridges which will need to be crossed to make an extended hike beyond the paved path. Also, the path on the southern most end of the park is the unidirectional, so plan your route to go clockwise if looking for a long hike.
I can’t encourage you to explore this wonderful park enough. It’s is one of the best places to connect with nature in Houston we have found yet.
